VEHICLE OPERATOR (OC)

Responsibilities

• Transports ambulatory and non-ambulatory passengers in County vehicles safely, reliably, and timely.
• Aids passengers in boarding and disembarking County vehicles from door to door.
• Interacts professionally and cheerfully with passengers.
• Follows logical, efficient, and direct transportation routes according to "Ecolane" operating device.
• Collects and distributes any required fares/fees to appropriate passengers.
• Observes all traffic laws.
• Provides information for periodic surveys as requested.
• Maintains order and discipline in the vehicles.
• Operates radio communication in a professional manner.
• Performs pre and post trip walks around the vehicle assigned that day to ensure safety and assist in maintenance of vehicle.
• Maintains daily record sheets as required.
• Participates in training as provided.
• Assists in training new Vehicle Operators.
• Performs general maintenance on vehicles such as, but not limited to, checking on fluids, and air pressure in tires.
• Affirms that the vehicle assigned to them is clean.
• Assists other Vehicle Operators in completing their tasks if they cannot do them due to unforeseen circumstances.
