Vehicle Operator II

About the role

The Vehicle Operator II is responsible for operating light and heavy vehicles to accomplish and ensure efficient County road construction and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Operates dump truck to load and haul needed materials to assigned job site.
• Transports debris from different job sites to landfill.
• Affords assistance with hauling as needed.
• SUBMIT DAILY PRODUCTION REPORTS.
• Maintains roadways (cutting overhanging limbs) for assigned area.
• Performs routine preventative maintenance and cleaning of department vehicles and equipment.
• Completes vehicle and equipment maintenance reports, indicating when service was performed and needed repairs.
• Operates a variety of equipment such as backhoe, front end loader, excavator, trucks, etc.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school education with one to two years of experience in heavy equipment operation or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• MUST HAVE VALID S.C. DRIVER’S LICENSE.
• MUST HAVE A VALID S.C. COMMERCIAL DRIVER’S LICENSE, CLASS A (PREFERRED), OR CLASS B.
• Cdl REQUIRED.

Physical Requirements

• FREQUENTLY REQUIRED TO PERFORM BASIC PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY TO CARRY OUT ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES.
• MUST BE ABLE TO REACH, BEND, STOOP, CARRY, MOVE AND LIFT 60 LB. OBJECTS REGULARLY.
• CORRECTABLE VISION SUFFICIENT TO READ MONITORS, LABELS, AND DRIVE SAFELY.
