Vehicle Mechanic - Experienced

We are seeking highly skilled and experienced Vehicle Mechanics to maintain and repair a wide variety of over-the-snow equipment, including snow grooming machines, snowmobiles, lift APUs, generators, and a diverse fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment. This role ensures the safety and operational readiness of all resort vehicles, such as snowcats, pickup trucks, vehicle electrical systems with CAN networks, semi-trucks/trailers, buses/shuttle buses with T4F emission systems, heavy/construction equipment with T4F emission systems, hydraulic/hydrostatic systems, snowmobiles (2- and 4-stroke engines, primarily Polaris and Skidoo models), and SXS/UTVs (primarily Polaris and Can-Am models). Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Pay

The base hourly pay range for this position is $27.34 - $43.01 per hour. Actual pay will vary based on experience, education, training, location, merit system, production quality/quantity, responsibilities, and travel requirements. This range is one component of a total compensation package that may include short-term and long-term incentives and region-specific benefits.

Schedule

Full-time, year-round positions are available, with opportunities on both sides of the resort and on the upper vehicle maintenance team.

Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles and equipment for safe and dependable operation
• Perform preventative maintenance, lubrication, and adjustments according to manufacturer’s guidelines on snow grooming machines, snowmobiles, and other company vehicles
• Repair, remove, and/or replace necessary parts to keep vehicles operational, both in-shop and on-hill
• Perform major repairs on all types of gasoline and diesel engines, gearboxes, drives, and transmissions
• Conduct metal repairs and fabrication using welding and cutting tools
• Complete work orders for all vehicles
• Notify supervisors of needed replacement parts and assist with inventory updates
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following safety procedures and guidelines
• Repair damaged body parts and assist in metal fabrication
• Assist with shop AST, UST, and daily tank inspections
• Follow and adhere to all Hazmat compliance and Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure Plan (SPCC)
• Assist in all other shop duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 3 years of relevant vehicle maintenance experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Mechanical experience in automotive, truck, bus, heavy equipment, or fleet diagnostics and repair
• Knowledge and experience with typical vehicle repair shop hand tools and equipment
• Experience with diagnostic tools and computers
• Proficiency in mechanical and electrical diagnostics and repairs
• Hydraulic system diagnostics and repairs
• Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics
• Welding and fabrication background
• Understanding of air and hydraulic brake systems
• Valid Driver’s license

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to walk, talk, see, hear, and smell
• Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
• Capable of frequent wrist, elbow, and shoulder twisting and pulling movements
• Capable of walking or standing for 70% or more of an 8-hour work shift
• Capable of occasionally lifting, pushing, or pulling 100 lbs or more, and frequently lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying up to 40 lbs
• Capable of climbing movements, walking on uneven terrain, and walking on snow and ice
• Capable of operating snow vehicles
• Able to bend, kneel, reach, and crawl
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
