Vehicle Inspectors - Pre Purchase / Warranty / Mechanical

About the role

Lemon Squad, a Wrench Inc. company, is the premier US-based automotive inspection company with the largest network of inspectors covering the entire USA, including Hawaii and Alaska. We offer pre-purchase used car inspections for all types of vehicles from cars, trucks, and motorcycles to RVs, and work with consumers and corporate clients on auto warranty inspections. This is a contract/1099 position for Mobile Pre-Purchase Independent Contractor Inspectors. As an Automotive Inspector you will perform technical mechanical inspections of automotive vehicles, assessing their overall safety and physical condition. You are an independent contractor paid a flat rate per inspection.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical mechanical inspections of automotive vehicles
• Assess overall safety and physical condition of vehicles
• Complete inspections for pre-purchase, warranty, and mechanical evaluations
• Document findings with photos and detailed reports using a cell phone or camera and computer

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of automotive experience
• Detail-oriented and dependable
• Reliable transportation and a valid state driver's license for the state you are working in
• Current vehicle insurance and registration (commercial automotive insurance required)
• Ability to use a cell phone and computer with printer access
• Good customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work independently

Physical requirements

• Walk, bend, stoop, or stand to complete required tasks
• Drive to vehicle locations using your own vehicle
• Available during daylight hours
• Complete assignments within a 48-hour window during daylight hours

Tools & equipment

The following tools are required prior to your first assignment:

• Tire tread gauge
• Code reader or OBD II scanner
• Cell phone or camera that takes photos
• Magnet or paint thickness gauge
• Access to a computer with printer

Pay

Jobs typically pay between $70.00 – $100.00 per inspection, with most inspections taking less than an hour. Time and pay increase for exotics, classics, RVs, boats, and other specialty inspections.
