About the role

We have immediate openings for Mobile Pre-Purchase Independent Contractor Inspectors (1099) in most US cities. As an Automotive Inspector, you will perform technical mechanical inspections of automotive vehicles, assessing their overall safety and physical condition. This is a contract/1099 position as an independent contractor, paid a flat rate per inspection.

Jobs typically pay between $70.00 and $100.00 per inspection, with most inspections taking less than an hour (pay and time increase for exotics, classics, RVs, boats, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Perform technical mechanical inspections of automotive vehicles.
• Assess overall safety and physical condition of vehicles.
• Set your own schedule and negotiate your rates.
• Accept the jobs you want within your work area.
• Complete assignments within a 48-hour window during daylight hours.
• Provide good customer service and communication.

Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of automotive experience.
• Detailed-oriented and dependable with reliable transportation.
• Ability to use a cell phone and computer.
• Ability to work independently.
• Walk, bend, stoop, or stand to complete required tasks.
• Drive to vehicle locations using your own vehicle (commercial automotive insurance required).
• Available during daylight hours.

Qualifications

• Valid state driver’s license for the state you are working in, along with current vehicle insurance and registration.
• Cell phone or camera that takes photos.
• Access to a computer with a printer.

Skills

• Tire tread gauge.
• Code reader or OBD II Scanner.
• Magnet or paint thickness gauge.

Pay

Flat rate per inspection: $70.00–$100.00 (higher for exotics, classics, RVs, boats, etc.).
