Vehicle/Equipment Repair Technician II (61035760)

Job Responsibilities

Performs diagnostic and repairs on equipment and vehicles to include but not limited to electrical, mechanical, etc. to ensure equipment is operational with a quick repair to ensure maximum production.

Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles in accordance with SCDOT PM policy.

Repairs all trailers and performs maintenance on all equipment for unit.

Checks, adjusts, and repairs air brakes and components.

Answers service calls in the field on equipment that is broken down.

Maintains shop and shop equipment for cleanliness and safety.

Affords assistance with welding repairs on equipment.

Works shop operations during inclement weather and or emergencies.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

One and one-half (1.5) years of work experience that involved the independent performance of job duties directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence.

Completion of one (1) academic year of a South Carolina High School Automotive Technology or Diesel Engine curriculum may substitute for six (6) months of directly-related experience.

Necessary Special Requirement

A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required upon entry to the position.

Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Physical Demands

The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Additional Comments

May be required to work overtime, nighttime, and/or weekends during hazardous weather or emergencies.
