Vehicle/Equipment Operator I - Temporary
About the role
This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP).
Responsibilities
- Provide support to the Food Distribution Division in contributing to the nutritional well-being of the citizens of North Carolina by distributing USDA Foods to eligible recipient's agencies.
- Administer six food programs for USDA.
- Operate assigned types of vehicles or equipment with necessary licenses or certifications.
Requirements
- Valid North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL)
- Prior use/infrequent use of manual and/or electric pallet jack
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
- Good customer service skills and experience
Qualifications
- High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Skills
- Knowledge of North Carolina regulations and policies
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Note: Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or time-limited position in order to work in a temporary position. All temporaries are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time. Individuals hired into a temporary State job must be fully qualified for the job.
Pay
Hourly Rate of Pay: $26.25 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).
