Who we are looking for

Slate is seeking a motivated engineer for its growing Slate Rotational Program – Engineering (SRP-E). This program aims to develop future automotive innovators through hands-on experience, mentorship, and skill development.

What you get to do

  • Performs engineering analysis, design evaluation, and technical problem-solving using advanced mechanical engineering principles.
  • Applies engineering judgment to evaluate technical challenges, recommend solutions, and support design or process improvements.
  • Hands-on engineering project assignments involving design validation, data analysis, testing strategy, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Completes engineering assignments meeting time, budget, and performance expectations.
  • Completes and presents technical reports to senior Slate leadership, highlighting engineering outcomes and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Utilizes advanced simulation tools, lab equipment, and real-world vehicle prototypes to support engineering analysis and validation.
  • Engages in structured engineering-focused rotational assignments across various departments to broaden engineering expertise.
  • Culminates in a capstone innovation project with a technical presentation to senior leadership.
  • Works as an integral part of an energetic engineering team challenging traditional vehicle design.

What you bring to the team

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent education demonstrating advanced engineering knowledge.
  • 2 years of prior engineering internship or co-op experience within automotive or related technical environments preferred.
  • Undeniable passion in automotive engineering and emerging vehicle technologies.
  • Demonstrated initiative in advancing technical and leadership capabilities within engineering environments.
  • Proven communication skills and experience contributing to technical projects or cross-functional initiatives.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative engineering environment.
