Vehicle Delivery Driver

Position Overview

As a Vehicle Delivery Driver, you play a key role in creating an exceptional car‑buying experience. You will bridge the gap between a customer’s online purchase and their home delivery, handling loading, unloading, paperwork, and key handoff while representing CarMax with professionalism, strong communication, and a commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Operate a two‑car hauler to deliver vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Load, transport, and unload vehicles at designated locations, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
• Facilitate home delivery transactions, including paperwork and customer handoff.
• Provide outstanding customer service, interacting with customers and team members professionally.
• Perform condition checks and verify vehicles meet CarMax cosmetic standards before delivery.
• Conduct daily equipment inspections to maintain safety and operational excellence.
• Maintain accurate logs and documentation in compliance with company requirements.

Required Qualifications

• 21 years of age or older with a valid state‑issued driver’s license.
• Class B CDL preferred; additional state‑specific endorsements may apply (e.g., Illinois Class C, Indiana “For Hire,” Louisiana Chauffeur’s License, Mississippi Class D Commercial).
• Clean driving record with no more than 6 penalty points in the last three years.
• 1+ year of customer service experience and 1+ year of delivery driving experience or CarMax experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb, operate a manual transmission, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Must possess or obtain a DOT Medical Card within 28 days of hire.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with adherence to CarMax policies and safety standards.

Pay

The hourly rate for this position is $17.30 – $29.40.

Benefits

• Up to 48 hours of paid sick time per year, accrued each pay period.
• Between 80 and 200 hours of paid vacation per year after a 90‑day waiting period, based on years of continuous service.
• Eight hours of pay for each of six scheduled holidays per year, plus one floating holiday.
• Holiday premium pay for associates who work on a scheduled holiday due to business need.
• Full‑time salaried associates receive paid time away with no specified limit for sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, floating holidays, etc., subject to manager approval.
