As a Vehicle Delivery Driver, you’ll do more than transport vehicles — you’ll help keep CarMax operations running smoothly by ensuring the right cars get to the right place, on time, for the customers counting on us to deliver. Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections in compliance with DOT and CarMax standards using a company hauler (non‑Class‑A CMV).
• Maintain accurate and compliant DOT logs and documentation.
• Load, secure, transport, and unload CarMax vehicles safely and efficiently, including hands‑on freight handling, ladder climbing, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Keep equipment clean, well‑maintained, and operationally ready.
• Move vehicles between CarMax locations, approved vendors, and customers’ locations using a company‑provided truck.
• Deliver vehicles accurately and on time to support inventory flow and keep customers and stores on schedule.
• Follow CarMax Standard Work to prepare and execute home deliveries and appraisal pickups, handling all paperwork accurately.
• Interact professionally with vendors, store associates, and the public, reflecting CarMax values.
• Use time efficiently and work safely.

Required Qualifications

• 21 years of age or older with a valid state‑issued driver’s license.
• Clean driving record with no serious violations in the past three years and meet CarMax’s Driver Safety Evaluation criteria.
• Physical ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lb; secure, block, and restrain vehicles; perform repetitive tasks including pulling, torquing, and tensioning chains, binders, and straps to meet FMCSA and CarMax load securement standards.
• Ability to climb, bend, and kneel to access and secure vehicles on multi‑level transport decks.
• Ability to meet DOT & FMCSA qualification requirements and possess or obtain a DOT Medical Card before starting.
• Comfortable working outdoors, including exposure to noise and inclement weather.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; adherence to CarMax policies and safety standards.
• Works efficiently and uses time wisely.
• Minimum 1 + year of customer service experience and 1 + year of delivery driving experience or CarMax experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional state‑specific endorsements may apply (e.g., Illinois Class C, Indiana “For Hire,” Louisiana Chauffeur’s License, Mississippi Class D Commercial).

Pay

Hourly rate: $17.30 – $29.40.

Benefits

• Up to 48 hours of paid sick time per year, accrued on a per‑pay‑period basis.
• Between 80 and 200 hours of vacation time per year after a 90‑day waiting period, based on years of continuous service.
• Six paid scheduled holidays per year plus one floating holiday (8 hours each). Holiday premium pay if worked.
• Full‑time salaried associates receive paid time away with no specified limit for sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, floating holiday, etc., subject to manager approval.
