VDI Systems Administrator
About the role
The VDI Systems Administrator supports the design, configuration, and maintenance of a large, globally accessed virtual desktop environment. They manage Thin Client devices, troubleshoot performance issues, and ensure optimal desktops for platform interoperability.
Responsibilities
- Support the design, configuration, and maintenance of a large, globally accessed virtual desktop environment.
- Experienced in system design and integration, identity life-cycle management, and process automation and improvement.
- Troubleshoot all related performance issues across the organization.
- Ensure optimization of desktops for platform interoperability and act as liaison between Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) technologies.
- Offer endpoint support on issues and trouble resolution tasks on Virtual Desktop related tasks.
- Document operational integration of future technologies (and update as required).
- Maintain advanced knowledge relative to administration, engineering, and implementation of virtual desktop infrastructure-related technologies.
- Operate across multiple and complex production environments with multiple stakeholders.
- Apply extensive technical expertise and have full knowledge of other related disciplines.
- Conduct trade studies and make recommendations on solutions and make purchasing decisions.
Requirements
- Experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, VMware Horizon, and Nutanix AHV.
- Proficient in managing Thin Client devices (Dell, HP, 10Zig).
- Skilled in profile disk solutions (FSLogix, Liquidware, Citrix PM, VMware DEM).
- Familiarity with secure access technologies (F5, Netscaler).
- Strong troubleshooting skills for Windows-based virtual desktops.
- Ability to collaborate remotely with teams and management.
- Knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy management.
- Experience using Liquidware Stratusphere UX for performance monitoring.
- Comfortable supporting customer training objectives.
- Scripting experience with PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree with 12+ years of experience.
Skills
- Security Certification: CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent (DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II)
