VDI Engineer - TS/SCI
About the role
GDIT is seeking a VDI Engineer to support Government activities in Sterling, VA or Annapolis Junction, MD. The ideal candidate will engineer new and improved enhancements for existing and emerging virtual desktop technologies.
Responsibilities
- Engineering, designing, testing, implementing, maintaining, securing, and managing the full life cycle of the complex Citrix XenDesktop and NetScaler solutions deployed in the large Enterprise environment
- Designing and supporting Microsoft infrastructure solutions, including Azure Virtual Desktop, on-prem, cloud and hybrid
- Interacting with Government stakeholders regarding technical considerations for problems, issues, or conflicts
- Engineering, implementing, mitigating, monitoring, and tuning VDI environment and management software to obtain Authorize to Operate (ATO) for new VDI solutions
- Managing Citrix products (Virtual Apps, Virtual Desktops, ADC, Provisioning)
- Managing Azure products (Azure Virtual Desktops)
- Operating and executing scripting skills in PowerShell or Python
- Providing Tier 3 and above support as needed (troubleshooting, problem resolution support, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA))
- Preparing and maintaining documentation for VDI solutions, processes, and procedures related to engineering projects
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a polygraph
- Meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA Security
- Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience
- Experience performing engineering work associated with the design, development, maintenance, and testing of infrastructure for desktop application packaging and deployment technologies
- Knowledge of Citrix XenApp, AppLayering, and/or Enterprise Layer Manager (ELM)
- Hands-on experience with SQL Clustering Failover
- Expertise in the Windows 10/11 – Standard Operating Environment (SOE), imaging, evergreen, etc.
- Experience with Remote Desktop Service (RDS) on Windows Server 2019/2022
- Experience with deploying Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) on Windows Server 2019/2022
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certification or training, or work/military experience

Pay
The likely salary range for this position is $147,292 - $199,278. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
