About the Role
The VDC Manager I partners with project teams to deliver projects through design and construction using Building Information Modeling (BIM) services. This role plans, executes, and closes out BIM deliverables for small to medium-sized projects (typically under $60M), integrating technology with traditional construction methods while demonstrating leadership in rallying teams around common goals.
Responsibilities
- Understand 2D plans and 3D models from design partners and model missing components as needed.
- Manage the BIM coordination process for medium-complexity projects throughout preconstruction and construction.
- Communicate BIM services clearly to project teams, design teams, and subcontractors.
- Analyze and adjust models from architects and engineers for internal preconstruction and construction needs.
- Participate in VDC Committee meetings and maintain communication with supervisors.
- Support VDC department initiatives, including developing and implementing new technology and workflows.
- Utilize models to support preconstruction, including quantity take-offs, 3D/4D site logistics, and 4D visualizations.
- Create virtual mockups, renderings, and presentation materials.
- Perform constructability reviews of design models.
- Manage coordination with subcontractors, identify scope gaps, and run clash detection.
- Maintain facilities management requirements and assist field teams in adopting 3D models.
- Conduct QA/QC field walks to ensure installations match coordinated models.
- Document process improvements (Plus/Delta) to enhance group workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction.
- 1–4 years of construction industry experience with at least 2 years in BIM/VDC.
- Proficiency in tools like Assemble Systems, BIM360, Lumion, Dynamo, Synchro, 3DS Max, Photoshop, Illustrator, or Inventor is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate, listen, and communicate clearly with teams.
- Time management skills to maximize efficiency and meet work goals.
- Willingness to take on additional responsibilities proactively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility and eagerness to learn new software regularly.
- Willingness to travel or relocate if required.
