Job Title: VDC Manager Job Description The Virtual Design Construction (VDC) Manager leads Building Information Modeling (BIM) administration and coordination for assigned construction projects, with a focus on delivering complex 3D models, technical documentation, and model-based solutions. This role provides advanced BIM technical support to internal teams, drives 3D coordination efforts, and implements project-specific VDC strategies that align with overall project objectives. The VDC Manager oversees VDC processes, supports field and self-perform operations, and ensures that BIM standards, deliverables, and schedules are consistently met. Responsibilities Manage VDC processes and activities to support assigned projects from planning through execution.Provide models and documents necessary to complete the agreed project scope in collaboration with VDC/BIM leadership and project teams.Create and maintain clear and accurate project documentation, including meeting agendas, meeting minutes, and constraint logs.Read and interpret shop drawings, submittals, and product data, and incorporate all relevant information into the BIM process.Support operations with the Request for Information (RFI) process for BIM-related items, ensuring timely and accurate responses.Manage and maintain a productive and efficient BIM process, continuously improving workflows and standards.Collaborate with VDC leadership and self-perform VDC teams to ensure general VDC services, deliverables, and schedules are maintained to meet project objectives.Build and maintain strong working relationships with owners, subcontractors, and project teams to support coordinated project delivery.Read and interpret owner requirements, BIM execution plans, and front-end scopes of work, ensuring minimum project requirements are met.Develop composite models by assembling 3D content provided by designers and trade contractors, and create additional models for content not provided.Lead the VDC processes and enforce VDC standards across multiple projects.Manage project change processes and incorporate changes into all project models, tracking and communicating schedule and budget impacts to operations teams in a timely manner.Provide BIM technical support to internal project teams, troubleshooting issues and advising on best practices.Participate in the development of project-specific BIM execution plans and VDC budgets.Implement best practices and standardized processes for BIM and VDC across assigned projects.Lead design and project teams through the full VDC process on multiple large and complex projects.Partner with cross-functional teams by providing model-based support and solutions that enhance project planning and execution.Implement and lead project-specific VDC strategies to meet overall project objectives and goals.Implement BIM and field layout processes on projects, with a particular focus on self-perform VDC activities where applicable.Identify BIM and self-perform scopes of work and support BIM/VDC self-perform processes as needed.Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision to others, as required, including mentoring and guiding team members.Assume responsibility for day-to-day financial management of assigned scope by understanding the budget process, accurately forecasting, and limiting month-to-month fluctuations.Maintain fiscal records and follow established procedures to ensure effective and efficient operations.Understand the broader business plan and manage financial goals for VDC-related activities.Proactively monitor and interpret ongoing financial performance and respond appropriately to variances.Make operational decisions with an understanding of broader financial goals and constraints.Foster a strong sense of teamwork in the work environment, using communication and conflict resolution skills to support collaboration.Communicate and explain goals clearly, encouraging and motivating team performance and productivity in alignment with leadership direction.Review owner requirements, budgets, schedules, and work assignments to assist leadership with effective resource management.Provide on-the-job guidance and share subject matter expertise to support team member learning and development.Work collaboratively and cross-functionally to obtain information and solve problems in support of team and project goals.Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude, maintaining composure under pressure and modeling positive approaches to change.Support organizational and departmental change initiatives related to VDC, BIM, and project delivery. Essential Skills Ability to perform work accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.Advanced verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey technical information.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.Intermediate ability to conduct effective presentations to internal and external stakeholders.Knowledge of Lean processes and philosophy and how they apply to construction and VDC workflows.Knowledge of organizational structures and available resources within a project or program environment.Ability to quickly and effectively solve complex problems in a dynamic project setting.Ability to interpret BIM project requirements and apply them to VDC processes and workflows.Ability to lead project teams through the full VDC process from planning to execution.Advanced ability to set up and establish project-specific VDC technology environments that support the project delivery strategy.Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively within internal teams and with external partners.Advanced proficiency with Autodesk BIM 360 Glue.Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Construction Cloud.Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Design Collaboration tools.Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Revit (Architecture, Structure, and MEP).Advanced proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD.Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Navisworks Manage, including clash detection workflows and related programs.Advanced proficiency with Trimble SketchUp.Intermediate proficiency with Bluebeam.Intermediate proficiency with enterprise mobile solutions for field and project use.Intermediate knowledge of laser scanning processes and how they integrate with BIM.Intermediate proficiency with Trimble Tekla Structures, with advanced proficiency preferred for self-perform VDC focus.Intermediate proficiency with Trimble Field Layout Solutions, with advanced proficiency preferred for self-perform VDC focus.Bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.At least 5 years of construction or related experience.At least 5 years of BIM-related experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications Demonstrated ability to inspire a sense of team and foster a collaborative work environment.Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to maintain composure under pressure.Experience reviewing owner requirements, budgets, schedules, and work assignments to support effective resource management.Experience providing on-the-job guidance and mentoring to team members in VDC or BIM roles.Demonstrated willingness and ability to work cross-functionally to obtain information and resolve project issues.Experience supporting organizational or departmental change initiatives related to technology, process, or project delivery.Familiarity with data center projects or similarly complex, technology-driven environments.Experience using Bluebeam for document review, markup, and collaboration.Exposure to OSHA 10 safety practices and construction site safety concepts.Interest in and capability for career progression into a Sr Virtual Design Construction Manager role.Valid and unrestricted driver’s license.Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed for field or office activities. Work Environment This role operates in a hybrid environment that may include both office-based work and project site assignments. The position involves frequent sitting and viewing of computer screens, with occasional standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching above the shoulder, pushing, and pulling. Travel may be required to support project needs, and the work may involve exposure to extreme hot or cold conditions at job sites. The role may require working non-traditional hours to meet project deadlines and business needs. The position relies heavily on digital tools and technologies, including BIM and VDC platforms such as Autodesk BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Trimble solutions, and other collaboration software. A valid and unrestricted driver’s license is required to travel to project locations. The work environment emphasizes safety, collaboration, and the effective use of technology to support high-quality project delivery. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Goodyear, AZ. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $130000.00/hr.
