VCUarts Music Accompanist

Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts (VCUarts) Department of Music is seeking trained accompanists to support various musical programs and events.

About the role

Accompanists will assist with masterclasses, accompany the voice area through applied lessons, auditions, and juries, and support a choir or the Opera. The role involves being a thoughtful and proactive member of the Music community, working collaboratively with a diverse student population in an inclusive, learning-centered environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide collaborative piano support in Opera Theatre, including all rehearsals and performances.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in collaborative piano or piano performance, or commensurate experience in accompanying (preferred).
• Experience accompanying applied lessons from beginner to advanced levels (preferred).
• Experience accompanying in an academic setting (preferred).
