VAWA Program Coordinator

About the role

This position serves as a member of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) & Human Trafficking team, assisting with VAWA-related matters.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the annual Silent Witness Ceremony, including soliciting data, reviewing homicide reports, outreach with families, and other related tasks.
  • Coordinate and implement training on various VAWA-related topics, including the behavior of victims and perpetrators of domestic violence, sexual assault, harassment, human trafficking, stalking crimes, and teen dating violence.
  • Draft the annual VAWA grant and prepare quarterly and yearly reports as required by the Violence Against Women Act and the Department of Crime Victims Assistance Grants.
  • Conduct research and gather information pertaining to the violence against women field for training purposes and to regularly update the domestic violence (DV) and sexual assault (SA) protocols.
  • Serve as a liaison to state work groups, sexual assault response teams, domestic violence coordinating councils, and other state and local initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in social work, public administration, criminal justice, public health, education, human services, or other related fields.
  • Experience in the nonprofit sector, prevention education, grant coordination, victim advocacy, community partnerships, or strong project management skills.
  • May require overnight travel, working evenings and weekends, and a valid driver’s license with frequent driving duties.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and procedures relevant to the area of employment.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
