About the Role
The Vault Teller/Client Services Representative delivers quality customer service by handling routine over-the-counter transactions, deepening existing client relationships, and establishing new ones. This role involves processing new accounts, assisting clients with financial services, cross-selling bank products, and performing branch clerical duties. The position also includes daily vault maintenance, balancing, and security responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Process deposits by receiving checks and cash, verifying amounts, examining endorsements, and requesting identification.
- Cash checks and pay out funds after verifying signatures and account balances.
- Provide clients with transaction receipts (e.g., deposit slips).
- Cross-sell the Bank’s products and services and refer clients to appropriate personnel.
- Count and balance currency, coins, and checks daily to ensure accuracy.
- Open, close, and balance the vault daily, following all security protocols.
- Perform safe deposit duties, including controlling access and assisting clients.
- Accept loan and installment payments from clients.
- Balance cash drawer daily and verify cash returned to the vault; address discrepancies immediately.
- Balance and record teller cash and vault cash to the general ledger daily.
- Assist in branch opening and closing procedures while adhering to security precautions.
- Maintain logbooks for cashbook, vault cash, and vault openings.
- Verify weekly inventory of currency and coins to track fund transfers.
- Dispense vault cash on designated days and record amounts; resolve discrepancies.
- Sell coins to the vault following Bank policy and procedures.
- Maintain office supplies inventory and prepare routine reports and forms.
- Identify and report suspicious transactions and potential security threats.
- Assist with night depository duties, including logging bags, processing deposits, and issuing receipts.
- Open, verify, count, and balance funds from night depositories.
- Interview clients to establish identification and determine financial needs for new accounts.
- Assist clients in selecting accounts, products, and financial services.
- Make decisions on opening new accounts, including credit checks and initial deposits.
- Prepare documents for checking accounts, savings accounts, and certificates of deposit.
- Print temporary checks and ensure accuracy of client information.
- Represent the Bank at community and civic events to enhance its image.
- Provide exceptional customer service by resolving errors and answering client questions.
- Issue official checks, process stop payment and hold orders.
- Process credit reports, wire transfers, credit card orders, and address changes.
- Answer telephones and direct calls to appropriate personnel.
- Process debit card applications and file maintenance.
- Cross-train less experienced branch personnel and assist with teller duties.
- Operate computer terminals to process account activity and resolve problems.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and policies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of banking experience in a Teller role.
- Vault experience is desirable.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic accounting and experience reviewing numerical information.
- Ability to accurately count and handle cash.
- Knowledge of banking services, products, and federal/state compliance laws.
- Good organizational, data entry, and math skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
- Sustained standing and sitting.
- Frequent typing using a keyboard and/or calculator.
- Occasional lifting of office files or equipment up to 20 lbs.
- Normal office environment with comfortable temperatures and low-level noise.
