Position Overview
1st Shift: 6AM - 2PM Monday - Friday; Saturdays as needed
2nd Shift: 2PM - 10PM Monday - Friday; Saturdays as needed
3rd Shift: 10PM - 6AM Monday - Friday; Saturdays as needed
2-2-3 Schedule: 6AM - 6PM or 6PM - 6AM
Responsibilities
- Cleans and sanitizes production equipment parts and components and non-production parts, vats, buckets, barrels, carts, pans, etc. in support of the production process.
- Maintains general housekeeping of inedible area and assists with sanitation and master sanitation facility-wide.
- Maintains compliance with all safety, food safety, quality, SQF, GMP and USDA requirements.
- Move materials, equipment, parts, or supplies to and from work areas and cleaning room, using cart, pallet jack, or forklift.
- Sweep, squeegee, shovel or scrape loose debris and scrap into appropriate containers.
- Weigh inedible barrels, complete Inedibles Log and dispose of waste properly.
- Set up cleaning equipment; connect hoses and lines to drop-down station and other equipment in order to regulate pressure and flow of water and chemicals from system.
- Scrub, scrape, and spray meat vats, inedible material vats, parts, equipment, buckets, pans, etc., using brushes, chemicals and high-pressure water hoses.
- Use appropriate cleaning solutions according to formulas.
- Presoak, clean, rinse and sanitize parts, equipment, meat vats, buckets, pans, etc.
- Rinse objects and place them on drying racks.
- Use the vat lifter to raise and lower vats; spray clean, and ensure vats are thoroughly cleaned at all angles.
- Sanitize meat vats as required; complete Meat Vat Tag and request an inspection; once the inspection is completed and the tag initialed, apply vat seal.
- Perform general housekeeping and sanitation duties to maintain the inedibles area in a clean state.
- Perform more extensive sanitation tasks as assigned on Master Sanitation days as requested.
- Provide backup assistance on the packaging production line as needs dictate.
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as required.
- Exercise safety precautions when using chemicals, making sure to use the appropriate cleaning chemicals specific to the task being performed.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations per established company policies.
- Operate forklift, pallet jack and other material handling equipment.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalency is normally required.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and with changing environmental conditions, including heat, cold and wet.
- Must be self-motivated and comfortable working alone.
- Must be able to tolerate working with industrial cleaning chemicals and follow all established chemical handling procedures at all times.
- Previous forklift experience is preferred, and must be able to achieve forklift certification.
Skills
- Communication Skills: Must possess good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Computer Skills: No Computer Skills Are Required.
- Mathematical Skills: Must have basic math skills.
- Reasoning Ability: Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the partner is frequently required to stand, bend, reach, walk, and talk or hear.
- The partner is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
- The partner must regularly lift up to 40#, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50#.

Work Environment

- In the vat washing room, it is wet, cool and slippery.
- There is a wide variation of temperatures ranging from 35°F to 100°F in the various other work areas.
- Partners are required to wear appropriate Shoes for Crews sanitation boots to ensure firm footing in all conditions.
- Gloves, hearing protection, goggles, face shield, rain suit, and rubber boots are required in the course of the work being performed.
- Partners are required to wear frocks and hairnets at all times on the production floor.
- The noise level in the production work environment is usually loud.
