Position Summary

The Sonographer is responsible for performing high-quality vascular ultrasound studies, ensuring accurate and timely documentation, supporting providers in treatment planning, and delivering an exceptional patient experience. This role works collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff to maintain efficient patient flow, support schedule utilization, and uphold Missouri Vein Care's standards for clinical excellence, professionalism, and compassionate care.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Greet and prepare patients for ultrasound examinations.
  • Explain procedures and answer patient questions within scope of practice.
  • Ensure patient comfort, dignity, and privacy throughout the visit.
  • Communicate delays or concerns proactively to patients and staff.
  • Reinforce provider recommendations and next steps following studies.

Diagnostic Imaging

  • Perform venous insufficiency and vascular ultrasound studies according to clinic protocols.
  • Accurately obtain and document relevant findings.
  • Maintain consistency in imaging protocols across clinic locations.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete ultrasound reports accurately and timely.
  • Upload images and documentation into the EMR.
  • Maintain compliance with clinical protocols, HIPAA, and documentation standards.
  • Aid in chart preparation and ensure diagnostic information is available for providers.

Operational Support

  • Coordinate with providers and clinical staff regarding patient flow.
  • Aid in schedule management to maximize utilization and minimize delays.
  • Maintain ultrasound equipment and report maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Support clinic operations and cross-location coverage as needed.
  • Participate in training, quality improvement, and process improvement initiatives.

Clinic Flow & Team Collaboration

  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment by communicating professionally, respectfully, and constructively with patients and team members.
  • Participate in team meetings, process improvement initiatives, and training programs designed to enhance patient care and operational performance.
  • Support coverage across Missouri Vein Care locations as business needs require.
  • Aid in IAC credentialing requirements as needed, including documentation support, quality tracking, and preparation of requested materials.
  • Support onboarding, role-specific instruction, shadowing, and reinforcement of MVC clinical workflows during slower clinic periods.
  • Assist with vein screenings, consultations, procedure support, room readiness, and patient flow support.

Qualifications

  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification required or eligible to obtain certification.
  • Candidates who are RVT-eligible must successfully obtain RVT certification as a condition of continued employment.
  • Registered Phlebology Sonographer (RPhS) certification may be accepted in lieu of RVT certification.
  • Maintains all required certifications and participates in activities necessary to support and complete ultrasound department credentialing requirements.
