About the Role
Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) is seeking a skilled and dynamic Vascular Surgeon to join our growing vascular team. This full-time, hospital-employed position offers a balanced schedule with dedicated outpatient clinic time, inpatient rounding, and operative time. The practice is supported by a hybrid operating room exclusively used by the vascular surgery team and an on-site vascular ultrasound team located at the outpatient clinic. The vascular surgeon will join a collaborative team consisting of two vascular surgeons and four dedicated nurse practitioners.
Responsibilities
- Participate in inpatient consultations, rounding, and postoperative management
- Perform outpatient evaluations and follow-up care in the clinic setting
- Provide comprehensive vascular surgical care, including open and endovascular procedures
- Conduct procedures in a dedicated hybrid OR, allowing for advanced image-guided interventions
- Manage preoperative and postoperative care for vascular surgery patients
- Collaborate with a skilled vascular ultrasound team to assist with diagnosis and surveillance
- Participate in shared call coverage among the vascular surgery team
- Participate in training of general surgery residents
Requirements
- Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) and successful completion of a residency and internship
- Experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty
- Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards
- Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise
- Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise
- Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage
- Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops
- Knowledge of current principles, methods, and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment in area of expertise
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements
- Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
Qualifications
- Current NYS Certification/Licensure
- Federal DEA Certification
- Board certified or Board Eligible in Vascular Surgery
