Responsibilities

  • Captures and prioritizes ordered exams.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with medical staff including physicians, APCs, medical fellows, and residents.
  • Collects medical information and patient histories.
  • Performs vascular ultrasound exams in accordance with department and accrediting body protocols and procedures.
  • Documents exam and preliminary impressions.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment, supplies, and work area.
  • Maintains proficiency in all vascular lab procedures and learns new protocols as they are developed.
  • Participates in research studies above standard-of-care testing, as assigned.
  • Precepts students, as assigned.
  • Mentors Level I and Level II sonographers, as assigned.
  • Rotates to community clinic locations, as assigned and as determined by department needs.
  • May be assigned shared mobile outreach duties in support of Vascular Surgery clinics at various outreach locations.

Requirements

  • Must meet all eligibility requirements of a Vascular Lab Technologist II.
  • Three (3) years of experience as a credentialed Vascular Lab Technologist, or two (2) years of experience as a credentialed Vascular Lab Technologist and completion of an approved, one (1) year externship program.
  • Verified competency in at least two (2) of the following areas: Pelvic congestion, Duplex, Mesenteric Duplex - Nutcracker’s Syndrome evaluation, Renal Duplex.
  • Licenses Required:
    • Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system.
    • Current certification as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
    • Current certification as a Registered Technologist Vascular Sonography (RT(VS)) through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
    • Current certification as a Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through the Cardiovascular Credentialing International.

Qualifications

  • Working Conditions and Physical Demands: Intensive work that may exert up to 100 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects, such as medical equipment, or patients while providing medical care. Exposure to infectious diseases and exposure to prisoners and behavioral health patients.
  • Physical Requirements: Carrying, color determination, far vision, lifting, listening, manual dexterity, near vision, pulling and/or pushing, reaching, sitting, speaking, standing, stooping and crouching, walking.
