About the Role
Oversee the entire Wrestling Program. Develop, monitor, supervise, and train student-athletes at all skill levels, from beginners to advanced. Commit to building relationships with and mentoring student-athletes both academically and athletically.
Instruct student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training to achieve individual and team success. Guide student-athletes in developing moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, self-confidence, and good sportsmanship.
Responsibilities
- Cooperate with the middle and high school office and the District Athletic Department to provide requested information in a timely manner.
- Meet all requirements set by the District Board of Education, the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA), and the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
- Model behavior expected of student-athletes, including punctuality, positivity, enthusiasm, respect, and constructive criticism.
- Set a positive example at all times, dress appropriately for practices and games, and maintain suitable sideline conduct.
- Provide written in-season and out-of-season training rules to team members before the start of the season and follow due process for violations.
- Check and review the academic eligibility status of all prospective and current student-athletes as directed by the Athletic Department.
- Follow the District Athletic Department Policy as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all job description criteria.
- Implement all applicable administrative policies from the District Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, and PIAA.
- Schedule and complete a full season of contests, including State tournament games.
- Begin pre-season practices on the first day permitted by PIAA rules and regulations.
- Participate in clinics and other programs to improve coaching performance.
- Attend school events such as Awards Night and Athletic Boosters Meetings.
- Demonstrate physical vitality, enthusiasm for the sport, and sound judgment in decision-making.
- Accept and apply constructive criticism to improve coaching performance.
- Use competent techniques in the sport, ensuring players respond positively to directions.
- Adapt to changing game situations effectively.
- Stay knowledgeable about the sport and seek ways to improve coaching techniques.
- Innovate using new coaching techniques alongside proven methods.
- Ensure the team is well-prepared for opponents.
- Motivate the team to meet or exceed goals and emphasize acceptable personal behavior.
- Actively promote good sportsmanship at all times.
- Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.

Qualifications
- Successful participation in wrestling at the high school and/or college level.
- Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the high school or college level is preferred.
- Satisfactory results on a Police Records Check, Child Abuse Check, and FBI Fingerprint Background Check.
Pay
Stipend according to the PAEA collective bargaining agreement.
