Varsity Boys Basketball Assistant Coach (seasonal)

About the role

Durham Academy is accepting applications for part-time varsity assistant boys basketball coach. The season runs from late October through mid‑February.

Responsibilities

• Assist with tryouts and team selection in consultation with the V Head Coach and the Varsity coaching staff
• Help plan and execute effective practices
• Assist Head Coach with game strategy
• Support in coaching duties such as scouting opponents, running off‑season workouts, or breaking down game film
• Drive a minibus to all road games
• Collaborate with all coaches in the boys basketball program and DA Athletics trainers, staff, administration and faculty

Qualifications

• Experience playing or coaching basketball at the interscholastic or collegiate level
• A commitment to providing a safe, healthy, joyful environment for practice and play
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• An ability and eagerness to maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with all members of the school community (student‑athletes, families, alumni, teachers, administrators and fellow coaches)
• The ability to lead student‑athletes with competitive energy and formative care
