About the Role
Manage all aspects of the VARSITY baseball program, including directing the JV and MS teams, from recruiting through college placement. Provide expertise in skills, techniques, teamwork, and game strategy. Oversee scouting, recruiting, conditioning, videoing, training, and practice as directed.
Responsibilities
- Support the Athletic Department in scheduling games (typically 15-25 total games and scrimmages).
- Organize, distribute, and care for equipment and apparel.
- Communicate with families from the initial application process through program completion.
- Create a competitive environment and positive atmosphere for student-athletes on and off the field.
- Support barracks supervision and serve as a positive role model in military bearing.
- Provide academic support for athletes and promote the program.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
- Coordinate with the Commandant's Department regarding behavioral performance of VARSITY and JV baseball players.
- Serve on the academy duty roster.
Special Tasks
- Obtain MFSAB (Minibus) VA state certification.
- Perform off-season weekend duties and nighttime Officer of the Day (OC) duties.
- Supervise the weight room.
- Maintain concussion certification and CPR training.
- Participate in professional development opportunities offered by the Academy.
Schedule
On a typical day, hours are from no later than 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM. Hours may vary due to athletic contests on weekends and evenings. Must be present at all VARSITY baseball-related events, practices, and responsible for locker room supervision. Athletic staff, including the Director, are expected to work a minimum of 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
