Van Driver - Part-Time (Local Government)

About the role

The Wayne County Transportation Department in Honesdale, PA is seeking dependable and compassionate drivers to provide door-to-door transportation for county residents, including seniors.

Description of Work

• Safe Transportation: Drive county vehicles an average of 150 miles each day while ensuring passenger comfort.
• Consumer Assistance: Help senior adults and wheelchair dependent persons with boarding and exiting in various conditions.
• Communication Skills: Communicate clearly with consumers and staff through person to person interaction and two way radio.
• Schedule Adaptation: Adjust to daily route changes and maintain flexibility in service needs.
• Social Support: Provide friendly interaction and positive social contact throughout the day.

Qualifications

• Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of employment requiring operation of a motor vehicle as a regular duty; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Special Requirement: Valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
• Condition of Employment: No suspension of driver’s license within the last three years.
• Other Requirements: Meet the PA residency requirement.

Benefits

• Part-time employment, approximately 14-21+ hours per week.
• Transportation operates 4:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday through Friday with limited hours on Saturday.
• No telework option.

Pay

• In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
