Operates a van to transport youth and staff to designated locations.

Responsibilities

  • Transports youth and staff in a campus van.
  • Coordinates and completes assigned transportation responsibilities according to regular schedule.
  • Performs proper maintenance and maintains cleanliness on transportation vehicles; completes reports of maintenance needs and safety conditions.
  • Monitors and supervises the appropriateness of youth behaviors providing corrections as needed; ensures that passengers wear a seatbelt properly.
  • Communicates with appropriate staff members regarding individual youth needs and progress.
  • Administers appropriate first aid in the event of an accident.
  • Monitors environment and ensures safe and secure conditions for youth.
  • Ensures safety in accordance with policies and procedures including youth safety, outings, and reporting guidelines.
  • Serves as a role model in carrying out activities and behaviors that reflect the values and principles of the Boys Town mission.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor to meet organizational needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • Previous driving experience.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Pass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Bus driving experience.

Skills

  • Knowledge of State of Nebraska Vehicle and Driver Safety Guidelines.
  • Ability to safely navigate a vehicle in all weather and road conditions.
  • Ability to communicate in an articulate, professional manner.
  • Knowledge of the Boys Town Model.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Position requires little to moderate physical activity driving a vehicle.
  • Must maintain sufficient strength, agility, and endurance to perform during stressful situations without compromising health and well-being.
  • Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, including exposure to fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
  • Duties are performed in a confined environment and may range from highly stressful to casual, in both indoor and outdoor settings.
  • May be subject to weather and hazardous road conditions.

Pay

$18-19 per hour

Schedule

Hours can vary depending on trip needs, as early as 6 AM to as late as 9:30 PM.
