About the role

Lifeworks is a nonprofit human service agency that provides adults with developmental disabilities the opportunity to live engaged and meaningful lives. We are seeking a part-time Van Driver to assist in transporting individuals to and from their appointments and recreational activities.

Responsibilities

• Drives Lifeworks van to transport individuals from homes to worksites.
• Operates vehicle safely and legally, adhering to all laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and in accordance with Lifeworks Policies and Procedures.
• Maintains vehicle with respect to safety and cleanliness.
• Reports all vehicle and maintenance needs to supervisor or designee as soon as possible.
• Supervises and assures the safety of all individuals that are transported on their assigned vehicles.
• Reports all concerns and or issues regarding the individuals on vehicle to supervisor or designee as soon as possible.
• Ensures that all passengers utilize seat belts while being transported.
• Secures passengers' wheelchairs to safety restraints to stabilize wheelchairs during trip.
• Submits all necessary written documentation required in a timely and complete manner.
• Assists passengers (as necessary) into and out of vehicle.
• Maintains effective communication with other staff, families, and residential staff of individuals being transported.
• Attends all transportation meetings and in-service trainings necessary for the driver position.
• Adheres to Lifeworks Guidelines regarding time off notification and approval for overtime from supervisor of, in his/her absence, their designee.
• Performs other duties and/or assignments to work/program locations based on the needs of the company.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to pass Fingerprint background check, CORI, DPPC and Driving background checks.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Experience driving vans is a plus and encouraged to apply.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
