Responsibilities

Tests and assembles valves by following manufacturers’ assembly procedures, work orders or other customer specifications. Documents the testing (test reports) and repair of the equipment. May communicate with customers directly to discuss the status of the repairs and tests.

Duties include:

  • Cleaning corrosive and other deposits from serviceable parts using solvents, wire brushes or sandblaster
  • Painting valve, fittings and other devices using spray gun
  • Assembling, repairing, and testing equipment
  • Positioning, fitting or aligning valve parts on workbench, floor or machine following manufacturers’ assembly procedures, work orders or other customer specifications
  • Adjusting, repairing, and/or replacing defective product parts
  • Inspecting, testing and verifying accuracy of assembled unit for conformance to standards and customer requirements
  • Reporting defective materials or questionable conditions to Production Supervisors
  • Recording all test results
  • Lifting, loading, and moving supplies and finish product between storage and work area
  • Assisting in setting up field test equipment for testing valves in the field
  • Labeling product with identifying data
  • Following safety procedures and regulations
  • Maintaining the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition

Qualifications

Education/Knowledge: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience/Skills:

  • 5 to 8 years of experience required, including specific experience with valve and/or other process instrumentation equipment assembly
  • Repair, testing, calibration experience required
  • Experience with Motor Operated Valves (MOV) preferred
  • Prior manual machine operating experience strongly preferred
  • Mechanical and Electrical experience preferred
  • Good computer skills

  • Safely use and maintain a large variety of tools and equipment, associated with the assembly of valves and actuators
  • Work independently or as a team member
  • Read and interpret assembly manuals (IOM’s) and customer specification sheets
  • Read schematic drawings
  • Communicate effectively
  • Work with minimum supervision
