Valve & Hydrant Technician
Locates, lubricates, inspects, exercises and documents valves in the County utility system; submits work orders for repairs and necessary.
Inspects and flushes hydrants in the County utility system; documents rebuilds and replacements; submits work orders for repairs as necessary.
Identifies valve castings that are inaccessible and addresses so valves can be properly utilized when needed.
Documents inspections in file to be accessible by all staff as necessary.
Works with other Utility crews, the fire departments, County staff, VDOT, contractors and others as necessary to address line repairs, replacements and emergencies.
Performs general and preventative maintenance of equipment.
Performs general maintenance of utility building and grounds, including mowing and landscaping duties.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Possession of a high school diploma/GED.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of directly related experience.
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
Special Requirements
- Possession of a valid driver’s license; possess and maintain a driving record that meets established Gloucester County Driving Standards.
- Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a Class A endorsement preferred.
- Pass a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination.
- Position subject to subsequent physical examinations to ensure incumbent meets physical job requirements.
