Value Stream Planner II

About the Role

The Value Stream Planner II coordinates and expedites production according to demand and quality standards, ensuring products are produced on time for distribution. This role requires expertise in production procedures, strong organizational skills, and a results-driven approach with excellent problem-solving abilities. Advanced communication and computer skills are highly beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Create Production orders in the ERP system.
• Follow up on Production Orders to ensure on-time delivery of production requirements.
• Prioritize and expedite Production Orders.
• Monitor Material Sell-by and Expiration Dating.
• Review and schedule product replenishments to meet the master production schedule and manufacturing targets.
• Perform strategic inventory calculations to optimize production capacity and inventory levels.
• Review and manage assigned lab(s) production schedule/plan, including demand, capacity, and material availability.
• Monitor inventory levels in the ERP system to ensure adequate stock and updated product information.
• Review ERP Reorder messages and/or MRP suggestions and take appropriate actions.
• Request material transfers when material is available.
• Communicate timely responses to company departments regarding emails, ETA requests, scheduling, and work order information.
• Recommend material for disposition based on “Sell-by” or “Expiration” dates.
• Coordinate production schedules with production departments.
• Release Work Orders based on demand, material availability, and work center capacity.
• Collaborate with Production, QC, Customer Service, and Procurement groups to coordinate material and resource requirements.
• Optimize material stocking levels for sell-by and expiration dates to minimize obsolescence/scrap.
• Determine MRP system settings to support product inventory targets and strategies.
• Propose alternate activities to resolve Backorders.
• Analyze, update, and maintain complex spreadsheets.
• Generate reports and metrics.
• Create and maintain documentation (SOPs, Forms, Checklists) to ensure process compliance.
• Ensure compliance with company and department policies, procedures, and checklists.
• Create KPI metrics for planning and manufacturing analysis.
• Track KPI metrics for reporting to the planning team.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
• Manage special projects or responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

• BA or equivalent work experience in Business Administration, Science, Operations Supply Chain, or a related field.
• 4–6 years of Production Planning experience.
• 2 years of experience in an ISO13485 environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior production planning experience utilizing ERP/MRP Systems.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
• Experience handling multiple product lines with high volume and a high mix of SKUs.
• Ability to multi-task, work at a fast pace, and handle a high-volume workload.
• Prior experience managing products with expiration dating.
• Familiarity with ISO or GMP regulatory compliance requirements.
• Experience in the life science, biotechnology industry, or process manufacturing industry.
• Understanding of Lean Six Sigma, JIT, and Kanban concepts.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting. Occasional exposure to a laboratory and warehouse environment.

Pay

The pay range for this full-time position is $68,500.00 – $84,000.00 USD annually. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position. The pay offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
