About the role
The Value Stream Manager (VSM) is the Integrated Project Team leader within a production or depot manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will report to the Factory Manager and be accountable for the daily management and direction of a cross-functional team which includes the Value Stream Lead (VSL), Production Support team (ME, PTE, IE, QE, PC) and Production engineering/test support team.
Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of Value Stream Leaders (VSL) and responsibility for 20+ bargaining unit employees and additional support/technical personnel.
- Collaboration and communication with upstream and downstream VSMs and leadership.
- Utilization of knowledge of manufacturing principles, manufacturing support team roles and responsibilities and manufacturing systems in support of initiatives, projects, improvements, and efforts.
- Overseeing and leading the generation, development and sustainment of product focused processes, tooling, equipment, and test architecture.
- Personnel performance input for all related functions and career development of team members including coaching and mentoring.
- Perform a wide variety of sequencing, planning, scheduling, coordinating, failure triage support and reporting tasks in support of the manufacturing workflow.
- Compiling labor forecasts and Estimates at Compete (EACs) for the support and touch employees.
- Strategic planning development for short term execution as well as long range planning.
- Define and Execute priorities relating to safety, people, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Interact with support engineering, supply chain, and quality with respect to project schedules.
Requirements
- Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum ten (10) years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum seven (7) years' experience.
- Experience with either manufacturing or operations.
- Supervisory or managerial experience.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working in a cross-functional team environment.
- Previous experience leading a direct team with specific deadlines, requirements, or deliverables.
- Knowledge of manufacturing and industrial engineering practices.
- Knowledge of quality requirements relating to manufacturing environments.
- Superior communication skills.
- Understanding of sequencing for fabrication, assembly, installation, testing and other manufacturing operations in relation to similar type of products or processes.
