About the Role
The Value Stream Manager for Mining/ITF/Lam oversees the production of all fabrics in the Lamination department and all products in the Mining and ITF departments. This senior-level operations role focuses on maximizing value stream performance through lean principles and the ABC business system to drive operational excellence, safety, quality, and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Maximize value stream performance by implementing and sustaining lean conversion principles to meet customer requirements and achieve business results.
- Drive operational excellence by optimizing production workflows, reducing waste, and improving efficiency across the value stream.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives using lean, Six Sigma, or ABC methodologies.
- Manage and develop production or quality teams, ensuring high performance, safety compliance, and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, supply chain, and other departments to align processes and meet customer demands.
- Monitor and analyze production or laboratory data to identify improvement opportunities and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies.
- Identify and implement cost-saving measures to improve profitability.
- Oversee all hiring decisions in Mining/ITF/Lam/Weft and communicate hiring needs with Human Resources.
- Report KPI metrics during weekly GEMBA walks and as requested by leadership.
- Schedule shipments and communicate ship dates to appropriate departments.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance supervisor to develop a robust TPM program.
- Allocate direct reports to appropriate areas to maintain productivity needs.
- Order supplies and maintenance items for all departments and work with Purchasing to complete requisitions.
- Perform additional tasks as requested by Management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 5+ years of supervisory experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to operate heat sealers, fabric winders, and other critical equipment.
- Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations.
- Forklift certified or able to be certified within 30 days of hire.
Physical Requirements
This position requires frequent sitting and standing for 8 or more hours a day. Twisting, bending, and kneeling occur occasionally for 8 or more hours a day.
