About the role

The position is hybrid, covering Saint Mary Waterbury, Saint Francis Hartford, Johnson Memorial Stafford, and Mercy Medical Springfield. The purpose is to implement and manage the Value Analysis process to improve product quality and reduce costs while ensuring safe patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and direct supply-related requests for cardio-vascular, surgical services, and other clinical areas to achieve safe patient care and improve product quality and cost of goods.
  • Collaborate with Ministry stakeholders and local/system leadership to develop cost reduction strategies and implementation plans.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and Trinity Health policies to ensure adherence.
  • Facilitate a healing environment, practice in a safe, professional, and healthy manner, and advocate for patient cultural beliefs and faith.
  • Monitor and initiate corrections or evidence-based practices, promote optimal physical and psychological behaviors, and influence the judicious and financially responsible use of resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Finance, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5 years' experience in a health care-related role with relevant experience in supply chain, value analysis, clinical supply expense management, or sourcing.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of clinical products, Supply Chain management principles and practices.

Qualifications (nice to have)

  • LPN, LVN, or RN work experience.
  • Professional clinical certification acquired through an accredited program.

Physical and Mental Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Rare clinical/patient-facing work environment.
  • Continuous work time indoors under temperature-controlled & well-lit conditions.
  • Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds unassisted, frequent travel, and use of computers.
  • Continuous sitting and occasional long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing.
  • Frequent manual dexterity activities and occasional grasping/handling.
  • Continuous attention to maintain a safe working environment and use of available personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to adapt to frequent interruptions, shifting priorities, and stressful situations.
  • Attend to tasks until complete, understand & relate to complex ideas, and remember multiple tasks & regimens extending over long periods.
  • Work on concurrent tasks/projects.
  • Read small print, frequent ability to hear normal sounds & voice patterns, able to give / receive instructions & other verbal communications in-person & over the phone / computer / device / equipment assigned with some background noise.
  • Perform frequent manual dexterity activities & occasional grasping/handling.
  • Comply with Trinity Health’s policies & procedures.

Additional Qualifications

  • Serves as a resource for leading initiatives that balance optimal clinical outcomes with appropriate product utilization and supply stewardship within assigned Ministry or Region.
  • Develops collaborative Ministry Value Analysis programs aligned with the system Value Analysis organization that will foster accountability and enhance optimal supply spend in all Med/Surg product categories.
  • Lead activities that increase contract compliance while reducing stock keeping units (SKU's), using a clinically driven standardization process within assigned Ministry and/or Region.
  • Supply Status: Researches and identifies functional product equivalents and/or other conservation methods for supply chain disruptions.
  • Value analysis: Provide support and/or oversight to stakeholder and service line teams to develop spend management strategies in new product and technology reviews, utilization management, and reduction of waste.
  • Ensure there is a balance between service line profitability and clinical effectiveness.
  • Responsible for leading value analysis process and governance, identifying and tracking savings opportunities, and staying current with major developments and changes within the assigned commodities.
  • Capital Purchasing: Provides guidance on strategic capital when disposable patient care items are impacted.
  • Strategic Sourcing: Responsible for compliance to applicable local, regional, and System Office and GPO contracts as identified by Trinity Health Strategic Sourcing.
  • Vendor Management: Complies with Trinity Health Supplier Policy and related Procedures.

Pay

Pay Range: $75,592 - 113,389 per year. Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.

Schedule

Position is hybrid, with occasional travel required.
