About the role
The Val Verde Unified School District (VVUSD) is recruiting for the VVUSD–Alder GSE Teacher Residency Program. This one-year pathway allows residents to earn both a Master’s Degree and a Teaching Credential while gaining hands-on classroom experience. Upon completion, graduates receive priority consideration for full-time teaching positions within VVUSD schools.
Responsibilities
- Participate in a mentorship-based, co-teaching model in TK–12 classrooms
- Complete rigorous coursework led by Alder GSE faculty
- Prepare for full-time teaching roles in Special Education (K–8 or 9–12), Single Subject Math, Single Subject Science, Single Subject English, Single Subject Social Science, or Multiple Subject (K–12)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree completed by the end of June 2027
- GPA of 2.65 preferred; under 2.65 GPA should still apply
- Eligible to work in the United States (DACA, permanent residency, or U.S. citizen)
Program details
- Priority application deadline: October 9, 2026
- Fall deadline: November 6, 2026
- Winter deadline: February 5, 2027
- Spring deadline: March 19, 2027
- Interviews: November to early December
Benefits
- $27,000 stipend (residents are not employees of the school)
- $10,000 Golden State Teacher Grant (via either the state or Alder)
- Up to $5,600 in federal grants
- Alder Tuition Scholarship of up to $10,000
- Up to $20,500 in federal loans

Tuition
Approximately $23,290 (final tuition set in September 2026 for the Class of 2027)
