Duties And Responsibilities

  • Proactively solicits new residential mortgage business and identifies, develops and maintains a quality network of business relationships.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, complying with all federal and state compliance policies and adhering to HMDA requirements.
  • Completes mortgage applications for submission to loan processing and underwriting.
  • Establishes a detailed marketing/business plan which includes names of potential and existing loan customers, realtors, builders and developers; includes frequency of contact in the plan.
  • Promotes and cross-sells other products and services as appropriate to client requirements.
  • Conducts networking activities such as community events, attends local Chambers of Commerce meetings, develops relationships with centers of influence, and entertains clients/prospects to enhance relationships and create new sales.
  • Evaluates loan requests, analyzes financial data and determines qualification of collateral and client credit history.
  • Structures loans to comply with acceptable lending practices and federal and state regulations.
  • Maintains contact with client throughout the loan process.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years of mortgage lending experience with proven mortgage production.
  • Previous experience using automated underwriting technology preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of bank operations and products.
  • VA / FHA experience required.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding lending and related consumer disclosure requirements.
  • Excellent knowledge of agency guidelines.
  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to carry out instructions, understand procedures and write correspondence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Excellent customer service and time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask, as shown in previous experience as a processor completing tasks under time constraints.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to develop basic understanding of underwriting guidelines.
  • Good data entry/keyboarding and math skills.

Physical Requirements And Environmental Conditions

  • Sustained standing and sitting.
  • Frequent use of PC, including typing or sustained attention to monitor.
  • Frequent typing using a keyboard and/or calculator.
  • Occasional lifting of basic office files or equipment up to 20 lbs.
  • Normal office environment with comfortable internal temperatures and low level noise.
