About the role
NISC is seeking a UX Designer 3 to join our design team. This role involves driving UX design for complex product areas, conducting user research, translating insights into design solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams, leading design critiques, and advocating for user-centered design principles.
Responsibilities
- Drive UX design for complex product areas, solving advanced user experience challenges with minimal oversight.
- Conduct user research, usability testing, and surveys; translate findings into clear design improvements.
- Define user flows, interaction models, and information architecture; create high-fidelity prototypes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure UX vision and product strategy are aligned.
- Lead and participate in design critiques, offering constructive feedback and incorporating feedback from others.
- Contribute to and refine the design system to ensure product consistency and scalability.
- Advocate for user-centered design principles.
- Provide informal mentorship and feedback to junior designers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in UX design, with an emphasis on complex product design.
- Proficiency in AI-assisted design tools (e.g., Claude); experience with traditional design tools (Axure, Figma, Adobe XD) a plus but not required.
- Solid background in user research, usability testing, and analysis.
- Ability to organize content effectively for intuitive navigation and usability.
- Strong presentation and storytelling skills to communicate design rationale.
- Understanding of iterative design and Agile development practices.
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, with ability to partner effectively with developers.
- Strong knowledge of accessibility best practices (WCAG compliance).
- Skilled in facilitating design critiques and heuristic reviews.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Ability to travel up to 25% as needed to meet project goals.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Web Development, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Minimum: Equivalent practical experience.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Schedule
This role is offered on a hybrid schedule, with a minimum of working 3 days per week in the office and the ability to work up to all 5 days a week in the office, as needed.
