About the role
The Lead Product Designer within Target's Emerging Experiences team plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of Target’s digital landscape. This position involves leading the design of innovative, seamless, and inspiring guest experiences that integrate both digital and physical touchpoints. As a key contributor, you will bring creative visions to life through high-fidelity prototypes, storytelling, and strategic design processes. Your work will support cross-functional teams—including product, engineering, brand, and store operations—in exploring new technologies and guest journeys. You will be instrumental in driving experimentation, fostering a culture of curiosity, and ensuring that design solutions are accessible, user-centered, and aligned with business objectives. Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience as a product designer with a strong portfolio showcasing successful product design work
- Proficiency in product design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Principle, Framer, Cursor, or Lovable
- Experience working in design sprints, early-stage concepting, or innovation labs
- Advanced strategic problem-solving, systems thinking, and collaboration skills
- Ability to balance creative exploration with practical delivery
- Proven ability to utilize data and insights to inform design decisions
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills to effectively articulate design concepts
- Comfort working in ambiguity and contributing to complex challenges across teams
- Passion for inclusive design and creating joyful, purposeful experiences at scale
Responsibilities
- Participate in cross-functional design sprints to explore new guest experiences and innovative technologies
- Develop future-state journeys, conceptual models, and prototypes to visualize emerging ideas
- Facilitate collaboration across multiple teams, including product, engineering, and brand, to ensure alignment and shared vision
- Create comprehensive design deliverables such as wireframes, user flows, UI designs, and prototypes that reflect the design process
- Guide and mentor junior designers, fostering a culture of growth and high-quality craftsmanship
- Maintain high standards of design quality, including accessibility, user research, information architecture, interaction design, and visual aesthetics
- Contribute to a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and human-centered design practices
- Support the integration of user insights and research into design solutions to enhance guest satisfaction
