Job Summary
To perform maintenance, repairs and installations on all types of equipment not requiring the skills of a journeyman.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel throughout the district assisting journeymen with their assigned tasks
- Perform maintenance, repairs and installations on all types of equipment, individually or with others, not requiring the skills of a journeyman
- Rotate between operations shops according to Director of Maintenance
- Regular and on-time attendance required
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
- Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment
Required Qualifications
- High School education or equivalent
- Valid Arizona driver's license
- Experience in the maintenance field

- General knowledge of electrical, plumbing and fabrications and broad knowledge of sheet metal and welding helpful

- Ability to work overtime and to change schedules with minimal notice; willingness to work non-regular hours (weekends, night shift, swing shift, holidays)
- Ability to work at heights on a ladder
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Indoor and outdoor settings across school campuses, including classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, restrooms, maintenance rooms, and athletic fields
- Exposure to various weather conditions while working outdoors
- Potential exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, mold, and other environmental elements
- Noisy environments due to equipment or student activity
- May involve working in confined or elevated spaces (e.g., crawl spaces, rooftops, ladders)
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 50 pounds or more
Employment Details
- Full-time (40 hours per week)
- Base Hourly: $17.12
- Class/Calendar: A12, 12 months
- Benefits: Vacation, sick leave, holidays, retirement matched through the Arizona State Retirement System, health, and life insurance
- Performance Pay: Available annually
- New Hire Experience: 1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum
- New Hire Education: 1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position
Pre-Employment Requirement
Prior to employment or during the first 3 months of new hire probationary period, drug and alcohol testing shall be required of all new contract employees who work in Maintenance. Any applicants having a confirmed positive test shall not be eligible for employment.
