Utility Worker

The City of Wausau is looking for a dependable, hardworking Utility Worker to join our Public Works team on second shift. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with equipment, being active, solving problems, and helping keep City operations moving.

About the Role

As a Utility Worker, you'll work alongside our Public Works mechanics, assist with equipment and repairs, wash and grease vehicles and equipment, operate trucks and equipment, support street operations, respond to changing weather and road conditions, and help with snow and emergency operations when needed. It's a behind-the-scenes position that plays an important role in keeping Wausau running.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license
• Willingness to learn
• Ability to perform physical, hands-on work

Qualifications

• Experience operating a dump truck and front end loader preferred
• Ability to use: leaf blower, leaf pusher, floor sweeper, brush chipper, jack hammer, and chain saw
• Ability to perform activities requiring physical effort
• Ability to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (paid training provided)
