About the role

We are currently looking to add a dynamic UVM Technician to our passionate team of environmental professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Work with major electric/gas utility systems and address their forestry needs
  • Collect and enter data on handheld devices, follow maps, and use GPS navigation
  • Communicate with landowners regarding work on or near their property
  • Audit work completed by contractors; discuss and negotiate line-clearance crew access issues
  • Coordinate with clients, project managers, planners, and vegetation crews
  • Inspect utility rights of way and identify vegetation incompatible with state and federal regulations
  • Participate in special projects as assigned

Requirements

  • Professional or collegiate practical tree work experience
  • Proficiency with local tree identification and tree physiology
  • ISA Certified Arborist or ability to obtain certification within 6-12 months
  • Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License
  • Current driver’s license and driving record in good standing
  • Proficient working knowledge of computers (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with GIS or other digital mapping software
  • Two- or four-year degree in horticulture, forestry, urban forestry, environmental science, or a related discipline
