Utility Technician, Seasonal (Second Shift)

About the role

Carter’s Inc. is the largest North American apparel retailer exclusively for babies and young children, encompassing Carter’s, OshKosh B’gosh, Skip*Hop, and Little Planet brands. This Utility Technician role ensures the cleanliness of the Distribution Center, changes forklift batteries, and runs supplies to the operations floor as needed. The position reports to the Sr. Mgr. Safety and Maintenance and is based in our Stockbridge Distribution Center.

Responsibilities

• Daily Operations (75%):
  • Scrub facility floors using propane-powered equipment
  • Move plastic bales from balers into trailers using lift equipment
  • Run supplies to the Operations floor, including stocking pick mods with corrugate
  • Change cardboard compactor containers
  • Assist operations in changing forklift batteries
  • Maintain housekeeping, safety, and C-TPAT compliance in assigned areas
  • Adhere to company policies regarding safety
• Support Functions (25%):
  • Maintain facility property, including building grounds, HVAC, generators, sprinkler systems, and security systems
  • Support the Coordinator/Supervisor in all duties as assigned, including operational areas of the Distribution Center
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Requirements

• Ability to pass driver and safety certification for operating equipment (e.g., scrubber, forklifts)
• Experience using routine industrial hand tools
• Team player willing to perform various job duties to support department and facility objectives
• Customer-service orientation with a willingness to exceed expectations
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively, scan with RF equipment, bend, twist, and stand for shifts up to 12 hours long
• Clear and effective communication with supervisors, managers, and peers
• Flexibility to work overtime and comply with blackout periods (no vacation or personal time allowed) during peak periods

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous custodial experience
• Self-starter with a desire to exceed expectations
