About the role

Veolia North America (VNA) offers a full spectrum of water, waste and energy management services, including water, and wastewater treatment, commercial and hazardous waste collection and disposal, energy consulting and resource recovery. VNA helps commercial, industrial, healthcare, higher education, and municipality customers throughout North America. Primary Duties/Responsibilities

  • Planning and leadership skills to complete all situations encountered in utility operations.
  • Reporting to the superintendent who assigns the work to be done.
  • The Utility Tech is given many tasks that usually require building or maintenance activities.
  • Using tools effectively.
  • Operating equipment and being knowledgeable in the maintenance and repair of the equipment used.
  • Inspecting new water main installations, requiring familiarity with all standards of construction.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and compliance with OSHA guidelines.
  • Performing tasks that require lifting and prolonged physical exertion, capable of lifting at least 75 pounds to their waist.
  • Knowledge of plumbing, especially for future incumbents.
  • Planning and organizing to perform construction and repair activities without supervision.
  • Directing subordinates through leadership skills.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience in operating backhoes and heavy trucks is required.
  • Previous plumbing or water utility experience is a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Backhoe operation.
