About the role

The Utility Technician position at KSB GIW, Inc. is part of the Florida Service Center operations. This role supports all operational areas and is responsible for tasks such as urethane, paint, sandblast, facilities, and assembly.

Responsibilities

  • Executes all work in accordance with KSB GIW Inc. policies and procedures
  • Ensures all work is carried out in a clean and safe environment as per current Health and Safety legislation
  • Supports the Florida Service Center based on business needs, including locating and retrieving parts for urethane, paint, sandblast, and assembly
  • Accurately measures and mixes various chemicals for different processes, including paint and urethane
  • Selects and prepares appropriate paint or urethane for assigned tasks to maintain compliance with KSB GIW, Inc. procedures
  • Locates/retrieves and prepares industrial rotating equipment components for assigned tasks and follows the appropriate process associated with the task
  • Prepares pump/gearbox assemblies and components for shipping by fitting appropriate data tags, warning tags, identification tags, and applying corrosion protective coatings to unpainted surfaces
  • Maintains required inventory of supplies for the paint department
  • Maintains housekeeping on the respective shift and work areas
  • Maintains proper operation of all equipment while monitoring tool and equipment condition and maintenance status
  • Aids and trains fellow employees with daily functions as and when required
  • Maintains quality standards and adheres to Health and Safety/Environmental legislations
  • Carries out all other tasks as delegated

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a previous industrial coating role (experience with industrial rotating equipment components is considered a plus)
  • General mechanical skills required
  • Ability to work overtime on short notice as and when required
  • Ability to use various types of painting equipment, hand and power tools
  • Ability to select and mix various chemicals to include paint and urethane to required mix ratio
  • Ability to differentiate between colors
  • Ability to wear appropriate personnel protective equipment for paint, sandblasting, and urethane
  • Ability to use and read various types of precision measuring equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical and safety data sheets and work procedures
  • Operates forklifts and cranes as and when required
  • Possesses good judgment and decision-making skills
  • Promotes safety and housekeeping at all times
  • Adheres to Company guidelines, rules, and policies regarding attendance, punctuality, and safety
  • Attention to detail
  • Familiarity and understanding of painting techniques and processes
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Performs tactical and strategic problem solving and ability to make good, sound decisions
  • Makes recommendations to supervisors and managers for improvements

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting up to 70 lbs.
  • Squatting, pulling, kneeling, pushing, and bending
