Utility Tech IV
About the role
You will perform general plant labor and clean-up of production areas, observe and report conditions that could lead to product nonconformity or other irregularities, and train in various entry-level production positions to fill in during vacations, absences, or increased production demands.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and report any conditions that could lead to product nonconformity or other irregularities
- Report equipment problems to management and complete equipment pre-shift reports, if applicable
- Clean work areas, shovel stone from around conveyors, and maintain facilities
- Operate mobile equipment, including 150–200-ton haul trucks
- Replace or assist other workers as needed or directed
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Willing and able to work rotating shifts
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively with other employees
- Basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
- Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables
Physical Demands
- Regularly stand; frequently walk; occasionally sit
- Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Talk or hear; taste or smell
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Work Environment
- Frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places
- Exposure to outside weather conditions, explosives, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, petroleum products, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration
- Moderate to loud noise level in the work environment
