Utility Steward-Dishwasher

Mission

Meriwether Godsey is seeking a Full-time Utility Steward/Dishwasher at Hollins University in Roanoke, VA. The position has a tentative start date of early-mid August 2026.

About the Role

This position requires strong work ethic, flexibility, reliability, and adherence to safety and sanitation procedures. It involves maintaining kitchen cleanliness, performing general cleaning tasks, adhering to food safety protocols, and assisting kitchen staff.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sanitation of the kitchen, cafeteria, dining room, and other areas assigned by Management.
• Clean plates, trays, glassware, utensils, pots, and pans using an industrial dishwasher or by hand.
• Consistently adhere to the proper and safe use of chemicals in the workplace.
• Perform general cleaning, as directed, to include sweeping, mopping up, washing up, and emptying of trash bins and boxes, ensuring placement in the correct containers.
• Ensure an appropriate cleaning schedule is maintained for utility areas and equipment.
• Follow all food safety protocols; receive and put away stock/deliveries in designated storage areas.
• Assist prep cook and other kitchen staff as needed, especially during peak times.

• Ability to stand/move about for long periods.
• Ability to adhere to company safety and sanitation procedures.

• Reliable Transportation.
• Prior dishwashing experience (1-3 years preferred).
