Responsibilities
- Performs specialized maintenance work in an assigned section of the Public Utilities Department.
- Performs various tasks involving water utilities maintenance projects; performs preventive maintenance on equipment; assembles and repairs backflow devices; conducts cross-connection control inspections of customers; repairs or replaces sustaining, regulation, and pressure reducing valves.
- Responds to after-hours emergency calls when scheduled for on-call duty; determines needed manpower, equipment, parts, and materials; determines need to request location of utility services.
- Operates a variety of machinery, equipment, and tools associated with department projects, which may include a utility truck/vehicle and trailer.
- Performs general cleaning and maintenance tasks necessary to keep equipment and tools operable.
- Maintains a current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, methods, and procedures; attends workshops and training sessions as appropriate.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED*
- One (1) Year Of Related Experience Preferred.
- Fingerprinting required.
Qualifications
- Must complete the Sacramento Water Distribution Operator correspondence course within 6 months of hire.
- Must possess Backflow Prevention Testing & Assembly certification within 6 months of hire.
- Must possess a valid Class 3 Water Distribution System Operator License within 18 months of hire.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License with any applicable endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle as provided in CMA 5805.
Skills
- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, methods, and procedures.
- Ability to operate a variety of machinery, equipment, and tools associated with department projects.
- Ability to perform general cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Ability to maintain a current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, methods, and procedures.
