Utility Project Manager

12-month contract with a potential for extension. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must be able to sit on Primary Talent Partners W2 without sponsorship.

About the role

The Transmission Project Manager is responsible for managing the scope, schedule, and budget for a portfolio of projects assigned to them. These projects may be various levels of complexity and budget from thousands to millions of dollars. Typical projects may include new line construction, line rebuilds, new substation construction, transformer replacements, switchgear replacements, or any combination of these.

The Project Manager will receive the projects from Development and introduce the project to the project team of Stakeholders, managing the progress of the Stakeholders’ tasks throughout the life cycle of the project. The Project Manager will track, manage, and report the project finances with support from the Project Controls team. Occasional site visits will be required when support is needed in the field. The Project Manager must comply with all OSHA regulations, including proper PPE such as fire-retardant clothing, hardhat, EH-rated boots, and protective eyewear.

This position typically manages multiple White or Green I projects per the Project Management Center of Excellence Project Profile Matrix.

Responsibilities

• Manage the scope, schedule, and budget for a portfolio of utility projects.
• Introduce projects to stakeholders and manage their tasks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Track, manage, and report project finances with support from the Project Controls team.
• Conduct occasional site visits to provide field support.
• Comply with all OSHA regulations, including wearing required PPE.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of project management experience.
• Graduation from a two-year college or university.
• Working knowledge of project management principles.
• Proficiency in decision making, critical thinking, problem solving, risk management, and project leadership.
• Proven ability as a collaborative team member.

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduation from a four-year college or university.
• Utility technical certifications/training (e.g., PMI PMP or CAPM, CMII certificates, Professional Engineer License).
• Working knowledge or proficiency in project scheduling and cost controls.
• Experience in the utility industry or construction management.

Pay

$55.00 - $65.00/hr (W2 contract, no PTO, no benefits). ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment.

Schedule

Hybrid role requiring 3 days/week in office or field. Field visits will be required across the Midwest territory, with all travel as day travel.
