Utility Operator

About the Role

This position supports production operations within the facility by performing various tasks such as general cleaning, maintaining equipment, moving materials, and ensuring overall cleanliness and functionality of the production area in compliance with industry standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills and a commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all computer input required for the position.
• Pick up garbage from each department as needed.
• Safely unload steel bars from trucks and properly maintain inventory.
• Haul all chips from machines and properly process them.
• Perform secondary operations on milling machine, lathe, and drill press to support production.
• Act as backup for hose testing duties, following established protocols.
• Refill floor dry containers to manage spills effectively.
• Monitor and inventory shop supplies (e.g., paper towels, toilet paper) to ensure adequate stock.
• Scrape and clean flooring.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor, General Foreman, or Plant Manager.
• Follow all standard operating procedures and guidelines.
• Know how and where to locate procedures and forms relevant to this position.

Requirements

• Must meet the Qualified Job Rate in training as determined by the Department Supervisor.
• Completion of company indoctrination and familiarity with NRP’s Quality Manual and specified job responsibilities.
• Current health card.
• Current driver’s license.
• Forklift operator certification (must pass test).
• Strong literacy and comprehension skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of company indoctrination.
• Successful completion of safety training programs.
• Understanding of the company’s Quality System and processes.
