About the role

Assist in the daily operations of the Finishing Department at our Chili, NY location.

Responsibilities

• Participate in training and actively practice the STOP Safety Program fundamentals to support APC’s zero-accident goal.
• Retrieve set-up information, specifications, and guidelines from the job jacket and follow instructions.
• Safely and efficiently assist with assigned production machinery, monitoring quality, production, and waste to meet customer specifications.
• Maintain a clean and clutter-free work area, including cleaning and sanitation duties using required solutions and protective equipment.
• Monitor quality requirements as outlined by company procedures and complete necessary quality check sheets.
• Actively participate in safety programs and complete required safety observations while adhering to plant safety rules.
• Attend and participate in scheduled meetings (e.g., Continuous Quality Improvement, safety, special projects, departmental).
• Work all scheduled shifts and required overtime hours.
• Train new employees as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; previous manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and follow simple instructions, memos, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write simple correspondence and present information in one-on-one or small group settings.
• Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions and handle problems with concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear.
• Occasionally required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
• May require manual lifting up to 50 lbs (refer to department-specific Job Hazard Analysis for restrictions).
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
• Occasional exposure to airborne particles and vibration.
• Moderate noise level in the work environment.

Pay

$23.75–$24.71 per hour.
