About the role

Assist in daily operations of the Finishing Department.

Responsibilities

• Participates in training and actively practices the STOP Safety Program to support a zero-accident rate.
• Retrieves set-up information, specifications, and guidelines from the job jacket and follows instructions.
• Safely and efficiently assists with production machinery, monitoring quality, production, and waste to meet customer specifications.
• Ensures work areas are free of clutter and debris; performs cleaning and sanitation duties using required protective equipment.
• Monitors quality requirements as outlined by company procedures and completes necessary quality check sheets.
• Actively participates in safety programs and completes required safety observations; follows plant safety rules.
• Attends and participates in scheduled meetings (e.g., Continuous Quality Improvement, safety, special projects, departmental).
• Works all scheduled shifts and required overtime hours.
• Trains new employees as necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; previous manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and follow simple instructions, memos, and safety rules.
• Ability to write simple correspondence and present information in one-on-one or small group settings.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating instructions, procedure manuals, and safety guidelines.
• Basic mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and computation of rates, ratios, and percentages.
• Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and solve problems with concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear.
• Occasionally required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
• May require manual lifting up to 50 lbs (refer to department-specific Job Hazard Analysis for restrictions).
• Requires close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
• Occasional exposure to airborne particles and vibration.
• Moderate noise level in the work environment.
